How to update Chromedriver (Windows)
  1. Determine the current version of Google Chrome installed on your system.
    Open Google Chrome, click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, go to "Help," and then select "About Google Chrome." Note down the version number.
  2. Identify the version of Chromedriver compatible with your current version of Google Chrome. If you have enabled auto-updates, you may download the latest Chromedriver version from the above download buttons. If not, you can find the correct Chromedriver version from the "Older Versions of Chromedriver " section below. For more information, click here .
  3. Once the download is complete, navigate to the location where the ZIP file was saved and extract its contents.
  4. Now, you need to replace the existing Chromedriver executable file with the updated one. Typically, your Chromedriver is placed in the same folder as your automated application. You will find it with the name "chromedriver.exe".
    Open the folder where the Chromedriver executable is located and replace the old Chromedriver file with the new one you extracted from the ZIP file.
  5. Finally, restart your automated application.
How to update Chromedriver (Linux & MacOS)
  1. Open Google Chrome and click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner. Go to "Help" and select "About Google Chrome." Note down the version number.
  2. Check if you have enabled auto-updates. If so, download the latest Chromedriver version using the download buttons provided above. If auto-updates are not enabled, locate the correct Chromedriver version compatible with your Google Chrome version from the "Older Versions of Chromedriver " section below. For more information, click here .
  3. Download the appropriate Chromedriver version for your platform. The file will be in a ZIP archive. Extract the contents of the ZIP file using the following commands:
    For Linux: unzip chromedriver_linux64.zip
    For MacOS (ARM-64): unzip chromedriver-mac-arm64.zip
    For MacOS (x64): unzip chromedriver-mac-x64.zip
  4. Open a terminal and navigate to the directory where the Chromedriver executable is located. Replace the existing chromedriver file with the new one you extracted:
    mv /path/to/new/chromedriver /path/to/old/chromedriver
  5. After replacing the old Chromedriver executable, restart your automated application to ensure it uses the updated Chromedriver.
Selecting the Correct Chromedriver Platform
  1. Win-32 Bit - For 32-bit Windows operating systems.
  2. Win-64 Bit - For 64-bit Windows operating systems.
  3. Linux-x64 - For Linux-based operating systems (works on both x32 & x64 processors).
  4. Mac ARM-64 - For Mac with an ARM-based Apple Silicon processors (M1/M2/M3).
  5. Mac x64 Bit - For Mac with an Intel-based processors.
